About the Artist
Meagan is a self-taught artist from Owensboro, Kentucky currently residing in Southern Illinois. She works primarily in water-based media, using watercolor or gouache to create her works. She began her dedicated art practice in 2022 when she first started working in watercolor, but has painted and practiced other artforms since childhood. In her free time she enjoys reading, kayaking, hiking, traveling, snorkeling, and playing board games. Meagan currently lives with her partner Randall, her beloved dog Reginald Barklay, and 3 beautiful kitties: Meowcolm Reynolds, Ninja Warrior, and their newest addition, Michelangelo Cheddar Cheese.
Her style and subject matter vary based on her interests, but Meagan's art consistently evokes feelings of whimsy and often celebrates the natural beauty that surrounds her in the Shawnee National Forest and the world beyond. With the nature-themed work, her primary intention is for the viewer to experience the same awe that she feels when she is in nature, whether it’s watching the sun dip over the horizon on the ocean, observing a total solar eclipse, or listening to birds wake the forest up in the morning. In addition to her landscapes and nature-inspried work, Meagan has been developing a collection of abstract water media paintings and is currently working toward publishing a web comic of a more political nature. In 2025, her main goal is to use her art to resist the oligarchical takeover of the United States and work toward dismantling the patriarchy, but she'll likely always bring an environmentalist perspective to her work.
Meagan is still working on finding her "signature style". In the meantime, she's having a ton of fun exploring the realms of her creative soul.
