This painting is of a scene that I made up from multiple photos taken from my kayak in the Shawnee National Forest. This is my third painting in this series. I am especially happy with how I captured the shadows on the kayak.

From the Kayak
With this series of paintings, I put the viewer in the kayak seat. These are meant to be viewed from the perspective of the kayak, so please view them with the boat centered to you. My goal here is to celebrate the beauty in Southern IL that can only be seen from a kayak or boat. We are surrounded by a rich amount of interesting lakes, creeks, and rivers to paddle. Kayaking is a fun way to improve mental and physical health. I find myself most at peace when I am on my boat.
